Welcome Messages
Prof. Farouk Youssef

Dear Colleagues
This is the third Mansoura International
Foot and Ankle Course and I have the honor to write its welcome
message for the third time. More than once it appeared difficult and
sometimes impossible to accomplish this task in due time because of
the great historical events our country went and still going
through. To be able to do it is really something that makes one
proud and happy. What made it possible were the spirit and the
courage of our guests from abroad who insisted to come to share us
our feelings and to participate in the course as usual, in fact they
pushed Prof. Hani to go on with this team. It is my pleasure to give
them a warm welcome and appreciation, Mr. Thomas Smith who shared
the two previous courses, Mr. Ian Winson and Mr. Keven Sherman who
shared in the first course, Prof. Nigel James who shared in the
second course, Prof. Jan Willem Lourwerens and Mr. Wagih Moussa whom
we are happy to have them for the first time in this course.
I am sure this course will be as
successful as usual and hope it will continue every year for the
benefit of all orthopaedic surgeons.

Dear Colleagues

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our pleasure
to welcome all the participants in the 3rd Mansoura
International Foot and Ankle Course on March 23-25, 2011 which will
be held in Mansoura University in Egypt. We are especially
optimistic about this upcoming conference for 2 reasons:
The first reason
pertains to January 25th of 2011. On this day the
Egyptian people stood hand in hand in support of a New Egypt which
encourages dignity, democracy, and freedom. Although we ran through
difficult times during this revolution, the Egyptian citizens
celebrated their success on February 11th of 2011. On this day a new
Egypt was born which paved the road to a bright future for its brave
and courageous citizens. It is with my honor and pleasure that we
hold the 3rd annual Foot and Ankle Conference during this
spiritual and triumphant time in Egypt’s history.
Our second reason
concerns the success of the past conferences that took place. As a
result of these conferences, we proudly announce the formation of an
Egyptian Foot and Ankle Society. The primary basis to this society
is to create a method of effective communication with surgeons in
this specialty and with other societies world wide. Our secondary
concern is to encourage up and coming surgeons by giving them the
tools and skills that are necessary to attain success while
preparing them through lectures and workshops that are comprehensive
and productive. Lastly this society also gives an opportunity
for senior surgeons to understand new methods and techniques
involved in this specialty in hopes of enhancing their abilities.
This is achieved by having world wide surgeons presenting at the
conference which allows the experts in this field to share their
experiences. We are hopeful that this society will be a great tool
for all surgeons across Egypt.
In regards to the reasons we discussed above the course
will be offering many opportunities for both our participants and
presenters. The course had been
organized to keep our colleagues well-informed of the advances and
challenges in the global society for this particular field of
specialty.
It offers a unique and dynamic
experience for educational career advancement .The scientific
lectures and workshops are designed to widen and enhance our
knowledge through the shared ideas and experiences of our
distinguished international and local invited speakers who are
well-respected and pioneers in their field of specialty. A
compilation of approved abstracts is included in the final program
booklet. This conference will be accredited by the Egyptian
orthopaedic association.
Once again my dear colleagues, I look
forward to sharing this experience with you all and encourage your
participation during this successful and meaningful scientific
event. I hope to see you all next year in the 4th Annual
International Mansoura Foot and Ankle Course, 2012.
